The Fall have been around since the late 70’s, releasing something like 75 albums with 73 different lineups.  The one constant in this most influential of post-punk bands is frontman Mark E. Smith, who snarls, sneers, and slurs his way through a new set of songs just about every year.  Probably the most amazing thing is that, even though the band’s sound has adhered to a standard template over the years (half-spoken, half-sung lyrics over wiry, herky-jerky guitars), they’ve managed to find a seemingly infinite number of variations on that template, incorporating, at various times, keyboards, dance rhythms, and female backing vocals.

It wasn’t easy to choose just one song from such a vast discography, so I went with something relatively recent and relatively conventional – which will probably still sound bizarre to anyone unfamiliar with The Fall’s music.  This is “The League of Bald-Headed Men,” from their 1993 album, The Infotainment Scan:
