Editors had the misfortune of releasing their debut album, The Back Room, shortly after Interpol’s Turn on the Bright Lights. This led to lots of lazy, wholly inaccurate comparisons between the two, resulting mainly from the fact that both bands featured a singer with a baritone voice and a penchant for writing songs that embraced, rather than rejected, melancholy.  In the intervening years, Editors have outpaced Interpol, simply by writing stronger songs and expanding their music palette.  While I’m not entirely sold on the electronic direction they’ve taken on their newest album, the two songs featured below are standouts from their 2007 sophomore effort, An End Has a Start:

“The Weight of the World”

“Bones”
